Frequently asked questions about micro-storage
How does it work?
Excess Storage offers the public storage space to let on a short term basis. Our storage units are available in sizes ranging from 1m² to 18m² and are monitored 24 / 7 to ensure that your assets are kept safe and sound. Simply select the unit size, in the location that best suites you and then move in. There are no long term contracts to sign and you can move in on the same day. You can change your unit size with one months’ notice or take additional units at any time.
What does micro-storage cost?
This depends on the unit size that you select. If you are not sure what size will suit you contact one of our well trained staff and we will assist you.
What we need from you?
All we need from you is:
- One month deposit.
- Your ID document
- Proof of address
- Your own padlock
When do I Pay?
Your first payment is due on or before you take occupancy. Thereafter rent is due on the first of every month.
All payments should be made by EFT or direct deposit.
What are our operating hours?
We are open from 08:00 – 18:00 on weekdays and 08:00 – 12:00 on Saturdays and public holidays. We are closed on Sundays.
Are there any contracts I have to sign?
You will need to sign a lease before you have access to your storage unit. Please remember to give us at least one month’s written notice before the end of the month of your intention to move-out.
What are the sizes of our storage units?
Between 1m² to 18m²
Are my goods safe and secure?
We ensure there is a large range of security features at our storage units, ranging from CCTV cameras and alarm system to 24 / 7 guarding and access control systems.
How short or how long can I store for?
Our minimum period is one (1) month and there is no limit to how long you can stay.
What notice do I have to give to move out of my micro-storage unit?
Please give us at least one months’ written notice before the end of the month of your intention to move out.
Can I store anything I want?
We would like you to store anything you need but there are some restrictions. Items which we have identified as hazardous and/or not suitable for micro-storage, and which we do not allow our customers to store in our secure storage facilities are:
- toxic, pollutants or contaminated goods
- firearms, munitions or explosives
- radioactive materials
- hazardous goods
- living plants or animals
- perishable goods
- cash and securities
- illegal goods
Does Excess Storage have boxes available?
We have a wide ranging of packaging options to make your packing and moving easier.
Do you have trolleys I can use?
There are free trolleys for you to move your larger items into storage.
